About Me
Breme, a medieval village in western Lombardy, is known for its red onions, which are the star of the show. The local onion, which is typically sweet, crunchy, and slightly flattened, is grown artisanally, and its unique properties have recently been recognized by the government as official certification. The sagra offers an entire menu centered on onions, from appetizers to play tic tac toe desserts, including the signature cipolle alla bremese (served raw with tuna and beans). There are also other dishes available, such as tripe, polenta, mixed grill, and donkey stew. An artisan market is held in conjunction with the event, and bikes can be borrowed for free to explore the surrounding area. The abbey, built in the 10th century, is a notable landmark in the ancient village.
