About Me
Another LIFE article about a llama, which was published two years before these photographs were shot, may provide a hint as to what happened. It was a one-page article on Animal Talent Scouts, a New York City-based firm founded by Bernard and Lorrain D'Essen that supplied animal actors for theater and television, notably Linda the Llama. A little portrait of Mrs. D'Essen in her living room depicts a similar collection of animals: many dogs, a kangaroo, driving directions and a llama, among other things. Breeds overlap as well among the dogs, which include a basset hound, a sheepdog, a couple of greyhounds, and what looks to be a saluki. It is possible that the dark-haired woman in the subsequent photographs is the same woman from the earlier shot.
